Renewed: SMILF

Frankie Shaw comedy has been renewed for a second season after only 4 episodes.

US comedy SMILF has been renewed for a second season only 4 episodes into its season.

The show has been averaging 4.4 million US viewers, making it Showtime’s most successful launch since the drama Billions.

Star Frankie Shaw developed the series from a Sundance short she made in 2015.

“From its first episode, the refreshingly honest point of view of SMILF broke through with audiences, the press and on social media,” Showtime Networks programming president Gary Levine said in a statement. “Frankie Shaw is a creative force to be reckoned with and we love having her on Showtime. Her show is funny and forthright, pointed and poignant, irreverent and relevant, all at once. We can’t wait to see where Frankie takes SMILF next season.”

SMILF airs in Australia on Stan.
