Renewed: The Bridge confirms final season

Season 4 for Swedish / Danish drama due in 2018.

Scandinavian drama The Bridge has confirmed a final season in 2018.

Hints had previously been dropped on a fourth season but were yet to be confirmed.

Sofia Helin and Thure Lindhart will reprise their roles as Saga and Henrik respectively, in a case that tests their relationship to its limits, both professionally and personally.

Producer Anders Landstrom says: “It is obviously very sad to say goodbye to Saga after four incredible seasons, but our talented writers, Hans and Camilla have an extraordinary end in store for viewers. Sofia has played the role of Saga with a rawness and truth rarely seen on screen and it’s been a pleasure to work with her, and Thure on a series of which we are immensely proud.”

Writer Hans Rosenfeldt and Camilla Ahlgren say: “We’ve been on an amazing journey with Saga Norén and Henrik Sabroe and felt that there was one last thrilling story to tell. Set two years on from last series, Saga is coming to terms with the dire consequences of being accused of her mother’s murder when a macabre crime seemingly linked to migration takes place. Meanwhile, Henrik continues his desperate search for his children.”

The joint Swedish / Danish series airs in Australia on SBS.

  1. Hopefully ‘The Bridge’ will get a good send off as it has to be one of the most successful scripts on TV with the USA and UK / France making versions with creative differences. Lets hope SBS have all the past seasons of The Bridge available for streaming when this final season is aired.
