Sometimes rumours just don’t make a lot of sense….
The latest links Sam Armytage as a potential future breakfast host for TEN (yep, here we go again….).
News Corp suggests CBS is throwing bags of money TEN’s way, eyeing “Armytage as the natural choice to attract viewers across from Seven’s Sunrise and Channel 9’s Today.”
As opposed to Wilkinson herself?
I suspect she isn’t exactly keen to rush back to 3am wake-ups but given they have already poached Wilkinson for a hefty sum, why poach the Sunrise host?
David Koch is currently in contract negotiations with Seven. If Armytage is also mid-negotiations then I suspect we have better context.
Seven declined to comment.

For the male co-host, i’d poach Jeremy Fernandez from ABC. If not host, then newsreader.
I rarely watch morning TV…more a night owl…but when I do…it is ABC…and I am not a fan of Sam Armytage
Stefanovic got his rumoured $2m by leaking to the media that he was going to 7. Wilkinson’s agent put out lies and forced Nine to go public with the facts. More of the same. These shows used to rate 500-600k, now they are fighting to try and get to 300k. Revenue is falling so salaries will have to too. People won’t accept cuts so they will go somewhere else and somebody new and cheaper will take their place.
I can’t see 4 breakfast shows working. The audience is not there. I can see breakfast radio with pictures (music with interviews) working.
Lisa moving to Ten leaves me in little doubt that CBS will attempt a ‘CBS This Morning’ style breakfast offering that’s less flashy then Ten’s previous efforts and more sunstance to attract ABC viewers and steal Nine audience who are over Karl and the cash giveaways. That will mean 3 hosts but I’m doubtful they’ll poach from outside. They’ll look within and who’s not on contract. Hugh Riminton a possibilty as male anchor. Third could be Sarah Harris (although with 2 young children, thats unlikely), Natarsha Belling, Talitha Cummins, Chris Bath.

As a person generally unattached to any morning show the spending of money on celebrity TV hosts makes no difference to my viewing habits whatsoever, Sam Armytrage like Karl, Lisa and David Koch need the publicity to keep their ratings value so the more articles about them the better.
