The Australian Guild of Screen Composers has honoured its best for 2017.

The Get Down, FOX League Super Saturday and Barracuda were amongst TV winners at the 2017 Screen Music Awards last night.

Denise Scott hosted the event at the Recital Centre in Melbourne with presenters including Burkhard Dallwitz, Elisa Argenzio, Rob Collins, Jenni Tosi, Martin Foley, Daina Reid and Margaret Pomeranz.

Staged jointly by APRA AMCOS and the AGSC (Australian Guild of Screen Composers), the evening featured a performance by Missy Higgins and brother David Higgins, with conductor Jessica Wells leading the orchestra.

Performing the winning television theme FOX League Super Saturday was rapper Briggs, who was joined by singer Caiti Baker and fellow winner Justin Shave.

“I created this track as the theme for the FOX League channel – the song reflects the journey of the Indigenous players – who give so much excitement and leadership to the sport and community week in and week out, not just the specific Indigenous round,” he said.

APRA AMCOS Chief Executive Brett Cottle presented composer Martin Armiger with the inaugural Distinguished Services to the Australian Screen Award.
