Twilight Zone revival in development

Classic Rod Serling series reboot is the works from CBS.

The iconic The Twilight Zone is the latest show to be ripe for a reboot with CBS considering the show for its streaming service CBS All Access.

Jordan Peele (Get Out, Key & Peele) will executive produce with Marco Ramirez (Marvel’s The Defenders) to write the script and serve as showrunner, if it is picked up to series.

It’s not the first time a reboot has been attempted. There were already two revivals, in 1985 and 2002, while plans for another in 2012 with director Bryan Singer did not eventuate.

Rod Serling (pictured) created the original series that ran for five seasons from 1959-1964 while a film was released in 1983 with tales directed by John Landis, Steven Spielberg, Joe Dante and Aussie George Miller.

  1. You’d really have to include ‘The Outer Limits’ in the discussion as that was a series with the same portmanteau structure, made about the same time and also redone in the ’90s-the success of ‘Black Mirror’ and the Phillip K Dick production ‘Electric Dreams’ has probably regenerated interest in this sort of sci fi/fantasy show again.

  2. This could be an ideal show for production in Australia and a good opportunity for CBS to use the studios and technical experience especially with CGI.

  3. I would like to see that….as long as they stay true to the original concept and don’t try to get all smart and techie about it….thus totally ruining it in the process….Time will tell….*cue Twilight Zone music*… 😀
