Vince Colosimo fined, licence cancelled.

Actor fined $3500, warned on jail time, after testing positive to ice while driving on suspended licence.

Actor Vince Colosimo has been fined $3500 and had his licence cancelled for 5 months after pleading guilty to two charges in the Melbourne Magistrates Court today.

Colosimo, 50, tested positive to ice when he was pulled over in Exhibition Street on March 5. At the time his license had been suspended for six months after he had accumulated too many demerit points.

The court heard that it was the third time he had been caught driving while suspended.

Defence lawyer Tara Hartnett said the case had drawn significant media attention, because of Colosimo’s profile, causing him and his family great embarrassment.

Magistrate David Starvaggi said driving under the influence of drugs was a basic issue that “even a kindergarten kid could understand”.

“You’re building a nice little history for yourself here,” he said.

“You’re risking a jail term … if you’re back here for a fourth time it won’t be pretty.”

As well as the fine and a five-month license suspension, Colosimo will also have to pay some court costs.

Colosimo, who most recently appeared in The Ex-PM, Sunshine, Offspring and The Warriors and will feature in Underbelly Files: Chopper, did not comment outside court.

Does the lawyer think that statement is supposed to make us feel sorry for him or just hoping to get him a lighter sentence? Well it worked. He should be sitting in a jail cell right now. He’s just lucky he hasn’t killed anyone!
