Axed: Love Child

First of 3 Playmaker dramas gets the confirmation.

No surprises here, Love Child is officially axed.

News Corp reports cast were notified last month that the drama had not been renewed for a fifth season and Nine confirmed they had pulled the pin.

The news comes after months of speculation, but without word from Nine.

The show enjoyed a 4 season run and is Nine’s highest timeshifted show this year, but overall it was not enough to proceed to 5 seasons.

Playmaker’s two other dramas, The Wrong Girl and House Husbands, are also unlikely to return.

TEN said a decision had not been made on whether a third season of The Wrong Girl would go ahead.

Rhys Muldoon has previously said House Husbands would also not return.

“We’ve done five seasons. We’re not coming back; let’s just say it,” he said.

Firass Dirani publicly stated he too was ready to move on.

“If they want to do six seasons, I’m happy to close that book,” he said.

  1. Enjoyed Love Child but it has run its natural course – I wasn’t expecting to see it back again.
Also liked The Wrong Girl but wonder where it can go from here. Agree the supporting cast were great, especially Craig McLachlan but they were indeed becoming overshadowed by unnecessary “love triangles”. I don’t expect to see it back either as ratings for S2 were not great.
House Husbands should have been retired several seasons ago.

  2. I think it might be tome for some fresh and engaging dramas. I watched 2 of the 3. and feel that HH has run its course. While Wrong Girl started okay, the supporting characters needed to be more central rather than overshadowed by the constant love dramas. Great acting and diversity for the support WG cast!
