CBS trims US staff

US staff cuts number fewer than 50, primarily in the broadcast-network & syndication units.

TEN’s parent company CBS Corp. has reportedly made some cuts to US staffing, which Variety reports numbers fewer than 50.

The staff reductions are focused primarily in the broadcast-network and syndication units.

The moves come as the company continues to shift toward digital distribution of its programming with the growth of CBS All Access as well as Showtime’s digital service. CBS All Access is part of the vision for Australia.

CBS also has designs on an Entertainment Tonight-like streaming news service.

The cuts are not expected to impact TEN.

A CBS spokesperson declined to comment.
