Date Night app sources reality cast

New Nine series swipes right into the world of dating apps.

More details have emerged on Nine’s new series Date Night which Screentime is currently filming.

The series uses an app, now available for downloading, to find participants from the world of dating apps.

“We’ve started shooting some material with some online daters and there’s no shortage of people on that app,” Screentime Head of Non Fiction Jennifer Collins told News Corp.

“For me it’s been a real eye-opener. What we’re expecting the TV show will show, is the absolute reality of online dating.”

The new show will also include people watch the dating in action, Gogglebox-style.

Here’s the description from Nine’s Upfronts:

The brand-new future of dating has arrived. Date Night is a spontaneous, fun-filled dating show. Singles looking for love will use their family and friends to find their perfect match. Together, from their couches, they’ll play this online dating game, swiping through prospective suitors until they find The One. They’ll laugh, cringe and squirm until they meet the person of their dreams – or not. Anyone lucky enough to swipe a match gets to go on a date for real.
