A new mystery drama is in the pipeline, Darby & Joan produced by CJZ (House of Bond, House of Hancock, Blackjack)
Written by Phillip Gwynne and produced by former TEN drama exec Claire Tonkin and Glenys Rowe, the project has received Screen Australia funding. But a network is yet to be revealed.
The synopsis is as follows: “When lives collide, two strangers set out on an epic outback journey. Darby and Joan is a series that asks: is it ever too late to be what you might have been?”
Matt Campbell & Nick Murray are Executive Producers.
Meanwhile Screen Australia has also funded some industry placements:
Santilla Chingaipe has secured a three month placement at ArenaMedia (Paper Planes, The Warriors, Barracuda) in Melbourne. Working with Robert Connolly and other key staff across their development and production slate, Santilla will also receive support and mentorship on her own projects during the placement.
WA-based Mala Sujan will be placed at the newly formed Easy Tiger Productions in Sydney under the mentorship of highly experienced producer Ian Collie (Doctor Doctor, Jack Irish, Rake). The opportunity allows Mala to upskill in her area of interest – creative producing and developing scripted content across platforms.
