Producer Mimi Butler joins Matchbox Pictures

Paper Giants & Rush producer joining script dept in Sydney office.

Drama producer Mimi Butler is joining Matchbox Pictures working across development and production in the scripted department, in Sydney.

Butler’s credits have included Paper Giants: Magazine Wars, Howzat! Kerry Packer’s War and Rush plus Forensic Investigators, Blue Water High & Snobs. She has also worked as a development producer for Cordell Jigsaw, been a script executive for Nine Network and recipient of the Australian Film Commission Young Producer Fellowship (2004) and the Joan Wilson Fellowship for Drama from the International Emmy Foundation (2003).

“I’m very excited to be joining the Matchbox team. Their bold ideas, passion, and willingness to take risks is what sets them apart. I can’t wait to get started,” she said.

Debbie Lee, Matchbox Pictures’ Director of Scripted Development, said: “Mimi is a fantastic fit for Matchbox Pictures and I’m thrilled that she’ll be starting with us in the new year. Mimi has terrific energy and experience and will bring a distinctive sensibility to our team to further deepen our scripted slate.”

Matchbox Pictures last month won SPA’s Production Business of the Year.
