Former Australian Idol singer Paulini Curuenavuli has been given a six-month suspended sentence for bribing a government official to unlawfully obtain a driver’s licence.
The singer, most recently appearing in The Bodyguard musical, pleaded guilty to the offence in September — 14 months after she paid a Roads and Maritime Service (RMS) customer service worker $850 for an unrestricted NSW licence.
In sentencing, the magistrate said although Curuenavuli had showed a level of self-rehabilitation, the fact she made the initial contact with the corrupt RMS worker had to be regarded as serious.
Curuenavuli held a NSW learner’s permit until March 2016 when it was suspended after she was caught driving unaccompanied and without L plates displayed.

Wounder what happen to the corrupt RMS worker?
The “27-year-old RMS worker, Faletausala Feesili Vaifale, of Emerton, pleaded guilty to three charges last year. She was sentenced to 12 months’ home detention for making a false document to influence the exercise of public duty, corruptly receiving a benefit while an agent and dealing with the proceeds of crime. She no longer works for the department and has been disqualified from holding a civic office for seven years.”(ABC)
She was given 12 months home detention and is not allowed to hold a civic position for at least 7 years…….. the sentences hardly fit the crimes!
