Auditions: All Together Now

Looks like Australia is about to get another singing TV show.

It’s the 1 vs 100 of singing shows…

Australia looks set to get its own version of UK singing show All Together Now (not to be confused with that one where Jon English plays pop star Bobby Rivers alongside a young Rebecca Gibney).

An audition call has gone out for the show which sees 100 singers on stage.

“Are you a master of car karaoke? Do you dream of performing in front of a live audience rather than just you in your shower? Have you got what it takes to get a crowd going and get an audience up on their feet? If so, we want to hear from you,” the casting notice asks.

“Endemol Shine Australia are casting now for a new Prime-time Entertainment show. We are looking for talented singers to take part in a new singing show with a difference. Forget what you think you know about talent shows, because if the crowd’s not singing, you’re not winning!

“From rock, pop, classical to hip hop, soloists to groups – do you have what it takes to win over a crowd?”

The UK series (which is yet to debut) is hosted by comedian Rob Beckett. Each episode sees a range of performers (solos and groups) take to the stage to perform in front of The 100, an audience of great singers with big voices and even bigger opinions. If any of The 100 like what they hear, they stand up and join in. The greater the number that stand up and sing along, the higher the contestant’s score.

Featuring Geri Halliwell as part of The 100, the series comprises of five hour-long heats. At the end of the show, two performers progress to the Grand Final for the chance to win a big cash prize.

It’s not clear which network is aligned with the show.

If you want to try your luck, applications close early March 2018.

  1. With some show, it really feels like sausage factory television. It’s like eating a big mac, tastes good in the moment but later on, you wish you had eaten something healthier.

  2. While streaming services produce things like The Handmaids Tale and The Crown, FTA continue to serve up trash like this. There’s a reason you rarely see the audience when you watch talent shows.
