Cornelia Frances reveals cancer battle

Legendary TV actress diagnosed with bladder cancer, keeps up her fighting spirit.

Legendary TV actress Cornelia Frances has revealed she is battling cancer.

Frances, 76, known for a string of classic Aussie soaps, was diagnosed during a general check-up at Royal North Shore Hospital, which was a location for Albert Memorial Hospital in The Young Doctors.

“I discovered I had bladder cancer. This then spread to my hip bone which fractured, and then I almost died from loss of blood due to an ulcer in my throat. Despite all this, I am still here, as the old song goes.

“I swear I have had a hex placed on me for the past 12 months,” she told News Corp.

She is not yet in remission but has high hopes for 2018 and perhaps a 30th season on Home and Away with her recurring guest role as Alf’s sister Morag.

“I would dearly love to go back to Summer Bay but haven’t heard anything as yet,” she said.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery Ms. Frances!

  1. Hope she recovers soon. I remember Cornelia in The Young Doctors when I was quite young. Hope she is well enough to land a part in the 30 year anniversary of H&A, although I don’t watch it anymore it would be nice for long term fans.
