SBS will offer an alternative, comedic soundtrack to its Slow TV event The Ghan on Sunday.

The Feed‘s Mark Humphries, an “avid train customer on the City Circle line of Sydney’s rail network” will assume the role of announcer on Radio Ghan via the SBS Facebook page.

“Ever since I was a young boy, I’ve dreamed of travelling on The Ghan. Hard to believe that all these years later I’d get the chance to watch a video of that very train trip. Dreams really do come true,” he said.

As the train makes its iconic journey through the red centre of Australia, Mark, along with co-hosts Karla Arnall (Triple J’s Hack) and Clarke Richards (Utopia, Upper Middle Bogan) will provide a live access all areas commentary, unique expert observations on cross-state and territory train travel, informative and entertaining insights and behind the scenes titbits about life on the train.

Special celebrity guests calling in to Radio Ghan include chef Adam Liaw, YouTube star Natalie Tran, The Chaser’s Charles Firth and comedian Michele Lim, plus The Feed’s Jan Fran and Laura Murphy Oates.

Before it’s back to work and the stresses of life return, tune in this Sunday, 7 January, 7.30pm for an all-immersive Slow TV experience aboard The Ghan.
