Candice Bergen is set to reprise her role as a broadcast journalist, and Charmed sets a reboot pilot.

Murphy Brown is the latest US series confirmed for a revival with CBS ordering 13 new episodes of the classic sitcom.

Original star Candice Bergen is set to reprise her role as a broadcast journalist, returning to television news at a time of political and cultural upheaval.

The original series aired from 1988 to 1998 winning 18 Emmy Awards, including 5 for Bergen, and 3 Golden Globe Awards.

Series creator Diane English, will serve as writer and executive producer while Bergen will also executive produce.

The news follows recent revivals for Will & Grace, Roseanne, American Idol, The X-Files, Prison Break, 24 and reboots including Party of Five.

Meanwhile a Charmed reboot, written by Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin, has been given a pilot order from The CW.

Described as a “fierce, funny, feminist” reboot of the original series it centres on three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches. Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy and maintaining familial bonds, a witch’s work is never done.”

  1. I wonder when Steve Austin and the Six Million Dollar Man will make a return as well, though obviously six million wont buy much nowadays which could mean a re-title of the show, as much as these 70’s -80’s favourites will have a curiosity factor what has happened to creative script writing nowadays, original stories are losing out to formulaic and repetitive themes designed for long production runs of 4 seasons or more which turns them into a big budget soap eventually. Netflix for all their inconsistencies have shown that audiences want new original shows and are willing to pay for it.

    1. I can see how a revival of Murphy brown would work so many comment about Trump. Charmed loved the original but no…. I did here the rumour about the Nanny but I think the stars have already said no
