Renewed: The Tick. Axed: I Love Dick, Jean-Claude Van Johnson

Amazon's superhero series will return, but three comedies will not.

Amazon has made a number of announcements about several of its titles.

It was good news for superhero series The Tick, proceeding to a second season.

The new season of 10 more episodes will begin production in 2018 and return in 2019.

Creator Ben Edlund will return along with leads Peter Serafinowicz as The Tick and Griffin Newman as Arthur.

“Ben has created a resounding hit while Peter and Griffin have brought Tick and Arthur to indelible life,” said Sharon Yguado, head of scripted series at Amazon Studios in a statement.

But it was bad news for three comedies: I Love Dick, Jean-Claude Van Johnson and One Mississippi.

I Love Dick, featuring Kevin Bacon, marked Jill Soloway’s follow-up series to Transparent. Soloway remains in business with Amazon with Transparent and an overall deal as well.

Jean-Claude Van Johnson, has only just launched, marking the series-regular debut of Jean-Claude Van Damme, as an undercover private contractor by the name of Jean-Claude Van Johnson.

One Mississippi, created by, starring and inspired by the life of comedian Tig Notaro, was produced by FX Productions and disgraced comedian Louis C.K.
