Amazon’s new Alexa voice-prompt devices will include SBS News audio bulletins from launch on February 1st.
“SBS delivers the highest quality, most trusted news for all Australians across television, radio and digital platforms. We’re seeing growing engagement with SBS audio content as audiences seek to stay informed at home and on the go and our new skill for Alexa provides yet another way to access the latest updates from SBS News at the touch of a button or by voice command,” said Jim Carroll, Director of News and Current Affairs, SBS.
Users simply select SBS as their default Alexa flash briefing and then ask, “Alexa, what’s the news?” to hear the latest SBS News updates via Alexa-enabled devices including Amazon’s Echo family.
The new digital skill for Alexa follows recent updates to SBS News to improve the network’s digital news offering for audiences. A new SBS News app for iOS and Android launched in December while changes to the popular SBS Radio app have provided greater access to multilingual news updates and podcasts on the go.
