Sophie Monk splits from Stu Laundy

"Unfortunately it just didn't work out," says former Bachelorette star.

Bachelorette Sophie Monk yesterday revealed to her social media followers that she had split from Stuart Laundy.

Conceding it “just didn’t work out” Monk said the pair would remain friends.

Monk, who will host Love Island for Nine later this year, says the show encouraged her to “jump out of my comfort zone in order to find real love.”

But the news follows cynicism that surrounded her choice with media questioning whether the two would last the distance or, indeed whether they were faking it.

Monk assured her followers there were no contracts or pressure requiring them to stay together. Their romance becomes one of the shortest-lived in The Bachelor / Bachelorette franchise, infamously upstaged by Sam Frost and Blake Garvey, who didn’t make it beyond the TV finale.

  1. Come on, the whole thing was a stunt to begin with. Ten were looking for a boost to the ratings by casting Monk, and she was looking for a way to jump start her career.

  2. The production company did a terrible job casting wise. The majority of the bachelors were far too young, the others flat out weird. In the end Sophie, unfortunately, ended up choosing the guy who was everything she said she didn’t want.

On a positive note, The Bachelorette gave Sophie’s career a huge boost. Not all lost.

  3. now lets wait for all the gossip mages to come up with there theories.

Its still nice to see Tim and Anna still very strong after being the first ones to go through this show and the other couples that are still together.

But you could tell this wasn’t going to work.

  4. It’s not really a break up if you were never really together in the first place. You could tell right from when they were on HYBPA days after the finale, that it was all for the cameras

    1. I felt he lacked personality and was too serious for her. The fact Sophie immediately ruled out kids when the finale aired indicated 5hwre was lack of chemistry but I do think she tried to make it work.
