The Destroyer coming to The Chase

A third UK regular is joining Seven's afternoon quiz show.

The Chase UK mastermind Shaun Wallace is joining The Chase Australia later this month.

To be known as The Destroyer, he has appeared on the UK series as The Dark Destroyer since 2009. He was previously a winner of Mastermind, and finalist on Are You an Egghead?

Wallace joins fellow UK experts Mark Labbett (The Beast) and Anne Hegerty (The Governess) plus Australia’s own Matt Parkinson (Goliath), Brydon Coverdale (The Shark) and Issa Schultz (The Supernerd).

Seven has confirmed new episodes from 5pm Monday January 29.

    1. Add Jenny “The Vixen” Ryan on top of that and you would have all 5 UK Chasers plus the 3 Australian exclusive Chasers.
Seems expensive but if you give an even amount of episodes to each Chaser, Seven should actually be saving money on each Chaser.

P.S. Seven should show more recent The Chase UK episodes so the Australian TV audience can get to know Jenny Ryan.

  1. Let me guess Seven decided to take Dark out of his nickname because of a fear that some people would claim that it is racist. I’m really excited about him joining our version. Hopefully when the new episodes return he is first up like they did with The Beast.

  2. Shaun is my least favorite UK chaser. When a contestant – say a locksmith – first goes up against a chaser, the chaser might say something like , “I’ll soon be showing you the door”. It’s generally reasonably good-natured banter. However, Shaun’s comments I often find to be more on the nasty side rather than being clever or humorous.

  3. I have tried to watch the Aussie version of Chase but I just cannot stand how Andrew O’Keefe talks and flings his arms around. Love the chasers so only hurting myself by not watching but gee for me personally I would love another host.

  4. Shaun Wallace is a good inclusion to have for The Chase Australia. I still prefer the UK version of The Chase as I think the host Bradley Walsh is better than Andrew O’Keefe, and that there are Australian themed trivia questions in The Chase Australia that the UK chasers would not know the answers to, which leads to an uneven playing field between the chasers and contestants.

    1. Actually, I think the UK chasers do quite well with the Australian themed questions other than with some obscure Australian sports related questions, many of which Australian born contestants also do poorly with. The UK original has many UK themed questions that many long-term UK contestants struggle with, and more recent arrival contestants struggle even worse with.
