Anthony Mundine quits I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here

Two weeks in, two celebrities down as controversial boxer throws in the towel.

Spoiler alert?

TEN is teasing that tonight Anthony Mundine quits TEN reality show I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

On Facebook he wrote, “Hey everyone! No doubt you have seen the headlines by now that I have left the jungle. It was an incredible experience but I miss my family and feel like I have accomplished everything I wanted to do. I did all but one of the trials (which I couldn’t compete in because of my foot) and met some great people and went out with a bang on an epic trial that you will see tonight Thanks for the supporting me on the show & make sure you watch me go out with a bang !! See you all back home.”

His departure comes less than two weeks after tennis player Bernard Tomic became the first ever contestant to quit the TEN series, citing mental health issues. But it divided viewers over whether he was genuine or not up to the task.

Mundine, whose comments have been heavily criticised by viewers, also maintained he had a rivalry with intruder boxer Danny Green.

“Viper Room seemed to push both Danny Green and Anthony Mundine to their limits,” co-host Chris Brown told News Corp.

“The expectation was that that trial would bring them closer together but it seems it may have been the straw that broke the man’s back.

“We’ve had many celebrities who are not elite sportsmen last the full six weeks.”

  1. I’m with karebear. There was nothing interesting about Mundine except for his dynamic with Jackie. Didn’t deserve the oxygen, I’d much rather watch everyone else. Clearly he felt it was unfair he was doing so many trials (showing that he hadn’t bothered to watch back episodes before going in, idiot) and when given the opportunity he was craving to compete with Green in the form of seeing who could last longer in the jungle, he walked out saying he still wanted the rematch that Green had clearly stated would never happen. Absolutely no ability to accept the world as it is instead of how he wants it to be. Boring.

  2. This show must be approaching it’s use by date or a re-think, the theme is unchanging and the hosts are looking a bit tired and jaded, which is hardly surprising with the main celebrity draw cards leaving before they have started it means they have to work harder. Unfortunately like MKR (an alleged cooking show) the rusted on viewers will still encourage the producers to make some more.

  3. They announced two Brits tonight… one might be the author. It does make me wonder how there are others in the wings waiting. We’re they already coming in?

  4. Can’t say I’m disappointed. They’ve been making it all about him since he entered the jungle. Now they can focus on some of the other contestants. It was the Mundine vs Green show. I’d rather they make it the Brenda and Ron show. Lol. Loving Fiona and Peter.

  5. What’s going on this season? They’ve never had people walk out until this year until Tomic decides he wants out and now Anthony says it’s too much as well.

  6. Wow….strange things are happening in the jungle this year…he seemed very chilled in the camp….Tomic was kind of typical, but The Man leaving is a big surprise.

  7. never saw him as a quitter and I bet at the start of the series no one owuld have believed he would be one of the celebs who would quit. Interesting to see how the ratings go now.

    1. It will be fine .. when someone leaves after a few days it feels like they were never there , def feels like Bernard was a lifetime ago .. ok mayb a year hehe
