Cameras roll on more True Story with Hamish & Andy

Filming is now underway on scripted re-enactments of more true blue yarns for Nine.

Filming is now underway on the scripted re-enactments of the second series of True Story with Hamish & Andy for Nine.

The duo last year recorded the all-important interviews, heard for the very first time, before scripting & casting stages.

Hamish and Andy said: “It’s always daunting to spend ten strenuous episodes doing high intensity listening, but thankfully this season’s tales are crackers and we can’t wait to bring them to life for people.”

Michael Healy, Director of Television for Nine, said: “It’s been our privilege to have had Hamish and Andy as part of the Nine family for seven years now. The boys continue to push the boundaries in providing highly entertaining and engaging content for our viewers. This ground-breaking program was a breakout hit in 2017 and we know that this year’s series will raise the bar once more.”

10 new episodes will air later this year.

True Story with Hamish & Andy brings to life the best Australian tales you’ve never heard, told by the very people who experienced them and then humorously and cinematically realised through dramatic recreations.

In each half-hour episode Hamish and Andy meet an everyday Australian storyteller who recounts an amazing, surprising, funny and above all true story, which is simultaneously recreated by a cast of Australia’s most renowned performers.

The first series was a smash hit, acclaimed by critics and viewers alike. Each episode was watched by more than two million people (including encore screenings and streaming on 9Now), making True Story one of the most successful new program launches in recent years.

And in a massive nod to the program’s broad family appeal, Warner Bros. International Television Production has acquired the rights to launch the format to global audiences. The format has already been sold to Germany, with another international market to be announced soon.

True Story with Hamish & Andy is produced by Radio Karate and made with the assistance of Film Victoria.
