Ex-Studio 10 boss “leaving TV industry”

Rob McKnight headed to News Corp for role in video.

Former Studio 10 producer Rob McKnight has announced he is leaving the TV industry after 25 years, to join News Corp as Acting Head of Video.

“After 25 crazy years I am leaving the TV industry,” he tweeted. “Excited to say I am joining the team @newscorpaus as Acting Head of Video. I’m genuinely thrilled at the opportunity and can’t wait to work with the creative team at #NewsDNA”

In November McKnight (pictured right) was fired by TEN after some 4 years running Studio 10 and is currently locked in a legal battle with the network.  If his case proceeds to court it could draw further attention to headlines currently surrounding the show’s cast. Prior to working for TEN he was at Nine News.

Former Wake Up producer Adam Boland, who left TEN in 2013, became head of online video at News Corp in 2016 before joining Media Holding Group.

  1. Good for him. The TV industry just seems to be an incredibly toxic industry to work in (that is a generalisation, of course; I’m sure there are really good parts to it, but hearing stories like Adam and Rob’s really doesn’t paint a good picture, especially when you consider their contributions.)

  2. Good on him. I’d like to bet the TV industry of today isn’t a patch on the TV industry he was entering all those years ago. A digital role with News is much more 21st century and I think he’ll do well.
