Mark Salling found dead

Actor best known for Glee, has died ahead of court sentencing.

Former Glee actor Mark Salling has died of an apparent suicide, weeks after pleading guilty to possessing child pornography.

Salling, who played bad-boy Noah “Puck” Puckerman, pleaded guilty in December after authorities said a search of his computer and a thumb drive found more than 50,000 images of child porn.

The 35-year-old was scheduled to be sentenced on March 7, and prosecutors planned to ask a judge to send him to prison for four to seven years.

The Los Angeles Police Department said Salling was reported missing earlier in the day, before he was found in the Tujunga neighbourhood.

“I can confirm that Mark Salling passed away early this morning,” the actor’s attorney, Michael Proctor, said.

“Mark was a gentle and loving person, a person of great creativity, who was doing his best to atone for some serious mistakes and errors of judgment.”

Salling had appeared in only a handful of projects before his breakout role in Glee, from 2009–2015.

Jane Lynch, who played gym coach Sue Sylvester, told TMZ the news was “sad and tragic”, while Matthew Morrison, who played teacher Will Scheuster, shared a photo of himself with Salling and Monteith.

The death is being investigated as suicide.
