Matt Nable joins FOX League line-up for 2018

Four new shows and a showbiz recruit as FOX League launches its 2018 season in Sydney.

Actor Matt Nable (Barracuda, Hide & Seek) is turning his hand to sports commentary as part of FOX League’s 2018 line-up.

He will provide Live NRL game commentary and feature in Sunday Night with Matty Johns, as the face of FOX League feature stories.

FOX League today launched its 2018 season at an event at Pier 2, Walsh Bay, Sydney.

Four new shows were announced, The Big League Wrap with Yvonne Sampson, Mick Ennis, James Hooper and with regular appearances from Roosters recruit Cooper Cronk; one hour highlights package Try Time with Lara Pitt; The Greatest hosted by Mick Ennis which showcases best plays; and The Fan looking at the game through the quirky lens of Andrew Voss.

Recently-announced Emma Freedman joins the female presenting lineup alongside Yvonne Sampson, Lara Pitt, Jessica Yates, Hannah Hollis, Megan Barnard and Emma Lawrence.

Former Knights back-rower Alex McKinnon joins the team while there are increased roles for Mick Ennis, Andrew Voss, Hannah Hollis and new Roosters recruit Cooper Cronk.

Foxtel CEO, Patrick Delany, said: “Last year we gave Rugby League fans the coverage they deserve with the first dedicated 24 hour channel FOX League. For the first time ever, fans were able to see their team, every round, Live with the biggest line-up of entertainment and analysis across the week.

“But it doesn’t stop there. The team has worked incredibly hard in the off season to refresh the line-up to deliver more fun, more analysis and greater insight with four new shows across an extended week of entertainment.”

FOX Sports Head of Television, Steve Crawley, said: “We are proud and invigorated by what FOX League achieved in its first year and have made some changes to mirror our mantra of Different Better Special. We’re marching into the 2018 season with new shows, talent and motivation and just weeks from kick off it feels like we’re counting down to Christmas”.

 


Sharing play-by-play commentary duties is Warren Smith, Brenton Speed, Matt Russell and Voss, with Nable set to make his FOX League commentary debut this season.

Mal Meninga will feature across more of the big game day broadcasts with fellow Queenslanders Kevin Walters, Ben Ikin, Gorden Tallis, Justin Hodges, Corey Parker and Sampson leading the biggest Queensland Rugby League line-up on TV.

The Live on-field action starts every Thursday night when Sampson and Ennis combine at 7.00pm EST to preview the opening match of the round.

FOX League remains the only place to watch the Friday night double-header, with the 6pm match Exclusive to Rugby League’s only dedicated channel before the 8pm blockbuster.

The biggest day in NRL returns in 2018 with a massive Super Saturday Exclusive triple-header plus FOX League will be the only place to watch both Sunday matches Live to wrap up the weekend’s on-field action.

And it gets better. Across the week, four new shows delivering more fun and more debate, will bring fans closer to the game they love.

New to Monday nights, Big League Wrap, featuring Sampson, Ennis and James Hooper with regular contributor Cronk, will offer unrivalled insight from the weekend’s matches.

Fans can relive every try from the round with Try Time hosted by Lara Pitt premiering on Tuesdays before The Fan offers viewers a look at Rugby League from the game’s biggest fan, Andrew Voss.

Mick Ennis will provide a fresh look at some of the most defining moments in NRL from the best plays, moments and players the game has produced on The Greatest.

Announced today, Matty Johns alongside Bryan Fletcher, Brett Finch and The Professor will move to Sunday nights at 6pm with Emma Freedman joining the couch each week to wrap up the round’s action with plenty of laughs on the new look Sunday Night with Matty Johns.

The revamped FOX League line-up will see Hannah Hollis take over hosting duties of Queenslanders Only joined each week by the biggest NRL legends north of the border, now on Tuesday nights.

The award winning League Life returns on Wednesdays with Sampson, Yates, Pitt and Hollis delivering the biggest and most revealing interviews in the game.

Thursday welcomes back The Late Show with Matty Johns before The Professor keeps the laughs coming on Friday nights with the refreshed The Professor’s Farewell Tour.

Launching in time for the 2018 NRL season will be the FOX League App, a dedicated Rugby League destination with improved personalisation and the best video, stories and stats; this is the App for the Rugby League fan. Foxtel sports subscribers can also enjoy the action on the move using the Foxtel app, at no extra charge.
