Paramedics new factual for Nine

Cameras to follow Victorian road ambulances, helicopters, MICAs and motorcycles in new Nine series.

Filming will begin in March on a new factual series following Victoria’s brave Paramedics.

Produced by WTFN, the 10x 60 min series will draw upon 50 rigged cameras. It will follow road ambulances, helicopters, MICAs and motorcycles 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

WTFN’s Director of Content and Executive Producer of Paramedics, Steve Oemcke, said “We are very excited to be working with Ambulance Victoria in delivering this Australian television first using a rigged camera format to give viewers unparalleled access to how paramedics care for the community.

“Paramedics are such highly trusted and respected members of society and the chance to get this close as they go about their jobs of saving lives is a real privilege.

“Using a rigged setup allows us to capture unscripted, unproduced and uncensored drama in a way traditional camera teams never could.

“We are very grateful that Ambulance Victoria trusts our production team enough to allow this level of unprecedented access,’’ he said.

“Paramedics is certain to make compelling viewing. TV has never been more real.”

It is expected to air on Nine later this year.

  1. ‘An Australian television first’ Oh really – it was done back in 2007 with the critically acclaimed and ratings success show Help on SBS ‘ A day in the life of a paramedic’ – Now that was an Australian television first !!!
