Adaptation of Stan comedy wins a rare second season in the US.

Great news for Jungle and Stan with the US version of No Activity granted a second season from online platform CBS All Access.

Australian adaptations proceeding beyond a first season is something of a rarity with shows like Kath & Kim, Rake culled after their initial run. Wilfred however ran for 4 seasons.

The US series, produced with Will Ferrell’s Gary Sanchez Productions features Tim Meadows and original star Patrick Brammell as two aimless cops on a stake-out and is the first comedy for CBS All Access. The online portal is also home to The Good Fight and Star Trek: Discovery.

The Hollywood Reporter notes, No Activity currently has a 70 score among critics and a 72 user rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

“As CBS All Access’ first original comedy series, No Activity flipped conventional storytelling on its head by showcasing some of the world’s best comedic talent as they hilariously explored the mundane lives of every day cops and criminals,” said Julie McNamara, executive vice president of original content for CBS All Access. “While the first season pushed boundaries and broke rules, we are confident that Trent O’Donnell and Patrick Brammall, along with their partners at Funny Or Die and Gary Sanchez Productions, have just scratched the surface and will deliver a new season that continues to elevate this as a truly one-of-a-kind series.”

Updated: Nick Forward, Stan’s Chief Content Officer said “The first US season of No Activity continued the success of the Original Australian series, and was a huge hit with Stan subscribers, featuring some of the biggest names in global comedy.  We can’t wait to see where Trent, Patrick and the team take these characters next.”

The US version also screens in Australia on Stan, where the original began.

  2. OK i will ask if they only show it on CBS all access …… then why not just show the australian version?
    I couldn’t get past the first episode of the US version……. Will, you are not funny and over act.
    US shows just don’t get the charm of the character!
