SBS on Demand: Transfer, Modus, Midnight Diner.

Plus Agatha Christie’s Criminal Games amongst February titles online.

I must try and alert you to more foreign dramas at SBS on Demand.

Here are some February titles, I may have overlooked during Hiatus mode, including one which is yet to begin. Some of these may screen later on SBS broadcast, possibly in late night slots.

Agatha Christie’s Criminal Games

Agatha Christie’s masterful storytelling gets a soupçon of French flair in these attractive, witty mysteries. These French adaptations are a fresh, stylish twist on classic Christie tales. Set in the 1950s, these iconic stories introduce new investigators: Chief Inspector Laurence, a man of class and refined taste, and the young ambitious journalist Alice Avril – along with Laurence’s ever-loyal secretary, Marlène.

Modus S2
Thursday, 8 February 2018 on SBS On Demand
(season 2 – all 8 episodes joining)
(season 1 currently available)
Swedish crime thriller series Modus, based on the bestselling novels by Anne Holt, follows criminal profiler Inger Johanne Vik and detective Ingvar Nyman as they find themselves pulled into high profile cases where the lines between their personal and professional lives blur. In the second series, America’s first female president (played by Kim Cattrall) is kidnapped while on an official visit to Sweden. The carefully conceived and meticulously executed nature of the abduction points to an inside job. But as Vik and Nyman investigate, they begin to suspect the truth is far more devastating.

Midnight Diner
Thursday, 8 February 2018 on SBS On Demand
(all 12 episodes available)
The chef of Midnight Diner is a man of few words and a good cook. His seemingly unremarkable dishes are associated with some amazing stories. The diner not only satisfies people’s culinary needs, it also provides an emotional sanctuary for wanderers, lovers, city dwellers and local residents. The customers come and go, bringing their stories in, and leaving with uplifting thoughts to continue their lives.

Transfer
Thursday, 22 February 2018 on SBS On Demand
(all 6 episodes available)
Set in the near future, the drama follows Florian Bassot, an ordinary man who accidentally drowns when out boating with his family. Five years later, he awakens to find that scientists have transferred his mind into the body of another man. Florian has to hide his identity, inhabiting the body of Sylvain Bernard (Arieh Worthalter), who just happens to be one of the highest-ranking officers of B.A.T.I., the anti-transfers taskforce. Desperate to reconnect with his family, Florian is forced to live the life of a fugitive in a world he no longer recognises or understands. Transfer won Best French Series and Best Actor at the Séries Mania Festival. (France)
