Sullivans pub for sale

Abbotsford pub used as a location for The Sullivans has been put on the market.

An Abbotsford pub used as a location for iconic 70s drama The Sullivans has been put on the market.

Heritage-protected pub The Retreat Hotel, built in 1915, was used for interiors on the Nine drama
between 1976 and 1983, run by publican Jack Fletcher (Reg Gorman).

The site at 226 Nicholson St has price hopes of more than $2.5 million.

Owner Noel Fermanis told realestate.com.au, “There aren’t many pubs like this anymore, it’s very classical, with beautiful tile work,” he said.

“It’s probably one of the best front bars in Melbourne.”

Former Sullivans star Lorraine Bayly recently told TV Tonight, “Crawfords were just fantastic with their research. A lot of the clothes we had were clothes people had kept from the war. The fabrics were so beautiful because it was before polyester and nylon.

“The Vegemite jars were white and the cigarette packets were right for the time.”
