Ant & Dec: UK presenter arrested over drink-driving crash

One half of the UK superstar duo has been arrested on drink-driving, alleged to have failed a breathalyser test.

British TV presenter Ant McPartlin, one half of the superstar duo Ant & Dec, has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

The co-host of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, Britain’s Got Talent and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here (UK) is said to have been involved in a collision with two other cars.

McPartlin (pictured left) is alleged to have failed a roadside breathalyser test and was arrested.

The Metropolitan police said a child who was a passenger in one of the cars was taken to hospital to be checked over as a precaution.

A Met spokesperson said police were called to reports of a three-car crash in Richmond, west London, on Sunday afternoon.

McPartlin was “taken to a south London police station for questioning and has since been released under investigation”.

The headlines already have fans worried about the future of weekly variety, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. The duo have an exclusive deal with ITV until 2019.

McPartlin reportedly entered rehabilitation last year after struggling with an addiction to painkillers.

The most recent series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here (UK), filmed in New South Wales, concluded in the UK in December.
