Ben Lawson in new US pilot

Aussie to feature in a comedic soap set in the world of cosmetics marketing.

Aussie Ben Lawson has been cast in in a new US pilot, False Profits for ABC.

Set in the world of cosmetics marketing, the comedic soap comes from former Code Black writer-producer Kayla Alpert. It is is described as Desperate Housewives meets Glengarry Glen Ross.

It also features Bellamy Young, Shelley Hennig, Kosha Patel. Mark L. Young and Vanessa Williams and follows a team of down-and-out women in suburban Arizona as they fight their way to the top of the cutthroat world of a multi-level marketing cosmetics business.

The former Neighbours actor, recently seen in Designated Survivor, will play Jake Amato, the hot building manager of the TJ Maxx, a cute blue collar guy who has a flirty relationship with Laura (Young).

He will also be seen in season 2 of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why.

It was such a bad time for Neighbours, coincidently after the period of Izzy leaving (who has just returned). 2007 was so convoluted, too many cast changes, new theme, new producers, new direction/feel all in an attempt to boost declining ratings to a massive Home and Away. It worked for a while, ratings were strong for Ten later in 2007/2008/2008 before plunging to levels seen now on Home and Away in 2010 (final year of main channel).
