Married brand tops both primary & multichannels for Nine

Ratings: Talking Married tops multichannels. John Edward boosts numbers for TEN's jungle.

The inclusion of John Edward into I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here lifted the show by some 100,000 viewers compared to the previous night and pushed it into third in its timeslot.

Based on week to week numbers -which is generally considered the standard measure- it was even bigger, at 614,000 viewers up from 496,000.

But it was still half the audience of Married at First Sight at 1.32m, down slightly on last week, and a win in the demos. It was Wednesday’s only show above the magic million. MKR was up from 946,000 to 981,000.

It’s worth noting that 9Life’s Talking Married led multichannels at 199,000 for the first time, meaning the MAFS brand topped both primary and multichannels. That may well be a first outside of sporting events….?

Meanwhile 20 to One also won its slot for Nine at 593,000 followed by Squinters, Australian Swimming Championships, This is Us and Colombia with Simon Reeve.

Both Mad as Hell and Hard Quiz dropped slightly for ABC.

Nine network won Wednesday with 33.2% then Seven 29.0%, ABC 15.5%, TEN 15.4% and SBS 6.9%.

Married at First Sight was # with 1.32m viewers for Nine then Nine News (925,000 / 900,000), A Current Affair (825,000), 20 to One (593,000), Hot Seat (453,000 / 283,000) and Botched (278,000).

My Kitchen Rules (981,000) was best for Seven then Seven News (906,000 / 881,000), Home and Away (624,000), The Chase (515,000 / 348,000) and Australian Swimming Championships (313,000).

I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here (614,000) led for TEN followed by The Project (497,000 / 334,000), TEN Eyewitness News (430,000), This is Us (285,000) and Family Feud (275,000). Madam Secretary was 149,000.

ABC News (661,000), Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell (561,000), 7:30 (527,000), Hard Quiz (526,000), Squinters (343,000), Adam Hills: The Last Leg (239,000) and Think Tank (163,000).

On SBS it was Great Continental Railways (271,000), Colombia with Simon Reeve (201,000), SBS World News (134,000) and Shaun Micallef’s Stairway to Heaven (115,000).

  1. Did anyone else notice the clock on MKR last night.
It was showing just on 3pm when Pete said 10 minutes to go.
Then next time you saw it it was 3.25 pm and Pete said 5 mins to go ?
    What the ?

  2. Why the heck did 7Mate convert the old season episodes into horrible zoomed-in 16:9 ratio, and drop the end credits? In fact, in one of the episodes, the screen hesitated and shifted ‘up’ when part of a visual joke was out of frame and had to be re-positioned. Also, that same episode, the audio went out of sync for about a minute. Terrible job.

    1. Agreed.. I hated the zooming in.. made it borderline unwatchable! Stop it now Seven! We all know and remember that there was a time (not too long ago) when things were 4:3!
