Nine pips Seven in close week, TEN under pressure.

Ratings: Nine clinches the week by just 0.2% -but will that change?

Nine has won another ratings week over Seven, but it may not last….

Seven’s multichannels helped the network to a 29.7% share but it was pipped by Nine’s 29.9%. With a slim 0.2% win those numbers may change from Timeshifting, especially given Seven has US dramas Good Doctor, The Resident and Grey’s Anatomy.

The previous week which Nine won has now been lost to Seven in similar Timeshifting results.

Still, a win is a win and Nine’s Married at First Sight again dominated with the top 4 rankings of the week.

Meanwhile with I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here wrapping, TEN saw it’s share slump.  This will surely be another week of pain until Bachelor in Paradise on Sunday.

  1. Nine is number one with advertisers who dislike ad-skipping viewers. But can a singing show keep the attention of the MAFS generation?
The way Seven shabbily treats it’s digital channel viewers it doesn’t deserve to win. “Switch over to Seven now!”
TEN under new management has been a disappointment this year. Seven and Nine have the reality calendar sewn up for many months so Ten need a disruptor but not MasterChef or Australian Survivor.
Foxtel has pop-up channels why not FTA? Unrestricted by schedules, demo’s, content etc. every day could be different. Much like Community TV, I wonder if Rove is available?

  2. David, with the Timeshifted ratings now in, I presume 9 held onto the week beginning Feb-26? From memory, the gap was 0.5. The Good Doctor dragged some of that back, but presumably not enough.

  3. Nine would be happy with its start to the year – 3 out of 5 weeks in preliminary numbers. And this is despite Seven having the Winter Olympics, and having played their hand with Spartan.

  4. Extremely close week. Seven say year-to-date they’re Number 1 in Total People, demographics and multi-channels in every market. You don’t see that very often, when a rival network has been dominating at 7:30pm for over a month now (obviously Seven’s is thanks to the Winter Olympics).

As David said, time-shifting, as well as the AFL / Comm Games / House Rules, might be enough for Seven to recover.. For a while anyway.

  5. Ten needed to try something better than Celebrity Family Feud for two nights if they want decent ratings… Graham Norton is a good option, but the rest of their 7:30pm options have been awful. I didn’t watch any FTA last night…
