Renewed: Will & Grace

Not one but two more seasons yet to come for hit revival comedy.

Hit revival series Will & Grace has been renewed by NBC for a 11th season.

To be clear, this is ahead of the 10th season even starting production (2017-18 series is Season 9) -that season is also boosted from 13 to 18 episodes.

But NBC has announced it is guaranteeing it a slot on the 2019-20 schedule, after ranking as the network’s #1 comedy at 9.8 million viewers.

Stars Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes are all returning, as are co-creators and showrunners David Kohan and Max Mutchnick.

“As far as I’m concerned, we can’t get enough of Will & Grace and 23 more episodes is music to my ears,” said NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt. “We’re eternally grateful that Debra, Eric, Sean and Megan feel the same way and wanted to keep this good thing going. I’m overwhelmed by the euphoric response the new show has received from the press and the audience, and my hat is off to the unrivaled writing team of Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, as well as the brilliant directing of Jimmy Burrows, for consistently delivering one of the best shows on television.”

Will & Grace is part of a wave of sitcom revivals including Roseanne, about to hit screens shortly, plus the upcoming Murphy Brown return.

Will & Grace airs in Australia on Stan.

  1. Any chance that we’ll see the relaunched “Will & Grace” any time soon on Free To Air TV? After they’ve screened on Stan, any chance that Ten or Eleven would screen them?

  2. The show has always had political jokes, particularly towards the Republican party and George Bush in its original run, so that’s nothing new. I think the difference is though, I don’t remember whole storylines being dedicated towards politics which is I feel where it becomes too much. Overall I’ve loved the new season though.

  3. Awesome news. I agree, lose the political storylines. To be fair it’s been non political all but a couple of episodes. The last 2 episodes for the season won’t be either, Will’s mum will be on the finale too – i love Blythe Danner!

  4. I just hope they are done with their Trump related story lines. The White House episode was truly awful, and last weeks MAGA cake story line was not funny. Although they were making a point about acceptance of all people and using Trump supporters as an example, I’ve had enough of it.

    1. The cake storyline was a vastly better effort than the first episode, but it still felt like it was trying too hard. Which is a pity, because this season has worked really well for the most part.
