Nat Geo series filmed at St. Vincents hospitals in Sydney & Melbourne gets a joint broadcast & VoD release.

National Geographic local documentary series Miracle Hospital showcasing Australian medical innovation at St. Vincents hospitals in Sydney & Melbourne, returns in early April.

The seven part series will also receive a same day, video-on-demand release.

“I’m delighted to be working with all our partners and affiliates to successfully roll-out a first for the National Geographic channel. We will be releasing all episodes, in addition to our linear broadcast, on the 7th to Foxtel On Demand, SKY On Demand (NZ), Fetch On Demand and the National Geographic App.”

“This opportunity demonstrates the channel’s ability to be at the forefront of innovative initiatives to reach different audiences in Australia and New Zealand,” said Jerry Butterfield, Director Content and Communications, National Geographic Australia and New Zealand.

The inspirational documentary series returns with all new stories to take viewers behind the scenes at St Vincent’s Hospitals in Sydney and Melbourne, where elite medical teams use the very latest science and technology to perform ground- breaking and life-saving procedures every day.
This is high-stakes, real-life, storytelling at its best.

In this powerful factual medical series, audiences will be given unprecedented access in real time to the hospitals, their operating theatres, patients and specialists to showcase the work of dedicated teams of specialists and researchers who are among the world leaders in medical innovation.

The featured practitioners are not just willing participants but enthusiastic characters, keen to share their professional world, their personal struggles and show us exactly what makes their life-saving work so exciting and satisfying.

As a medical series, Miracle Hospital 2 is distinctive in that it only features stories where the treatments are ground- breaking. From incredibly rare transplants, 3D printing of body parts, the latest in robotic surgery, nerve monitoring in brain surgery to intraoperative navigation systems, each one-hour episode features two – three transformative stories. We follow in real time the dramatic and emotional patient stories and the specialists’ journey as they decide and implement sometimes controversial or radical treatments.

These are stories we all can relate to, will be fascinated and inspired by, and also be proud to see how Australia is leading the way in so many areas of medical science and innovation.
Miracle Hospital 2 is a The Feds production for National Geographic globally. Executive Produced and Series Directed by Julia Peters and Series Produced by Belinda Gibbon. The series has received production funding from Screen Australia.
