Tobias Menzies has been cast as the next Prince Philip in Season 3 of The Crown, replacing Matt Smith.
The Outlander star will perform alongside Olivia Colman as the new Queen Elizabeth, succeeding Claire Foy.
Helena Bonham Carter joins as Princess Margaret, replacing Vanessa Kirby.
While Paul Bettany had reportedly been up for the job as Prince Philip, he had to bow out due to scheduling issues.
Menzies is known for Game of Thrones, Catastrophe, The Terror, and The Night Manager.

He does cold, arrogance very well.Should be perfect for Prince Phillip!
It will be very difficult to see Tobias as a nice character, after many of the scenes in Outlander. His face has come to represent evil in my mind.
My mums the same, saying “ oh no I can’t stand him”. I had to remind her that that’s just a character he plays, that he’s not really like that.
I can’t wait to see who’s playing Harold Wilson, the Prime Minister during this season.
I would have preferred to have Paul Bettany in the role but Tobias Menzies will no doubt do a good job as he is the go to guy for playing nefarious and British ruling class characters.
Bettany was the perfect choice but Tobias Menzies is a top class actor and even if not as good a physical match as Bettany, certainly his equal in acting ability. No Matt Smith of course but will be interested to see how it all goes!
Colman and Menzies shared a couple of scenes in The Night Manager.
Is it official? I’m assuming it is because I trust you, David. I just feel like some one new is cast as Prince Philip every other week..
Yep Netflix has also tweeted.
