Upcoming US drama Vida will screen on Stan from early May.

The series, produced for Starz, focusses on two Mexican-American sisters, Emma (Mishel Prada) and Lyn (Melissa Barrera), who couldn’t be more different from one another

Following the death of their long-estranged mother, the sisters return to their old neighbourhood for the funeral, hoping to make a quick appearance, sell her struggling bar and then leave. Matters get complicated as the two young women are confronted by secrets of the past and forced to face the truth about their mother’s identity. These secrets drive the sisters to reunite with people from their childhood and confront their neighbourhood’s changing cultural landscape.

The series, from showrunner Tanya Saracho (How to Get Away With Murder, Looking, Girls), also stars Ser Anzoategui (East Los High, Shameless, The Fosters), Chelsea Rendon (The Fosters), Carlos Miranda (The Bling Ring, Dallas) and Maria Elena Laas (Vital Signs). The Starz-owned series is based on a format by Richard Villegas Jr. (I [Heart] Babylon, La Música Romántica) and executive produced by Big Beach TV’s Robin Schwartz, Peter Saraf and Marc Turtletaub with Stephanie Langhoff (Togetherness, The Bronze, Skeleton Twins).

Additional cast features Elena Campbell-Martínez (The Big Bang Theory, Jane the Virgin, Modern Family, The 15:17 to Paris), Ramses Jimenez (Fear the Walking Dead, Wisdom of the Crowd, Good Behavior), Luis Bordonada (Better Call Saul, The Bridge, Barracuda), Elizabeth De Razzo (The 33, Eastbound & Down, Idiotsitter), Renee Victor (Coco, Weeds, The Apostle), Adelina Anthony (Bruising for Besos, Gold Star), and Erika Soto.

Monday May 7 on Stan, with episodes dropping weekly, same day as the US.
