Benedict Cumberbatch “keen” to return to Sherlock

Never say never on more of the classic sleuth returning.

There is some news, of sorts today, for Sherlock fans wondering if the show will resume.

Co-creators Steven Moffat said, “We all love our show. And we’d love to come back and do a future show some day. We’re not doing it right now. I have done nothing but Doctor Who and Sherlock for around 10 years, so I’ve got to be allowed to do something else.”

He added: “Benedict is very keen to play it again. At some point, it’ll come back.”

Co-creator Mark Gatiss has predicted a longer break while he and Moffat work on a Dracula TV series.

“We’re not going to do Sherlock whilst we’re doing Dracula,” he told Radio Times earlier this year. “So it’s not going to happen in the immediate future. Never say never, but no – we don’t have an idea [right now].”

Moffat said that the new version of the vampire story will be reinvented “in a Sherlock-y way”.

  1. Sherlock seems to struggle to know what it wants to be, a modern reinterpretation of the traditional Holmes or a revamped modern meta human with no real attractive human traits except to those who admire genius intellect at the expense of empathy. Steven Moffat’s fingerprints are all over the storytelling and some viewers could be forgiven thinking they were watching a spin-off of a Dr Who episode minus the alien makeup.

  2. I’m a total Sherlockian…so hard to believe we only have 13eps of this brilliant series…I agree that later episodes aren’t as perfect as earlier ones, but it still beats most of the c**p being made.
I think the error they made was messing with the Sherlock/John relationship…the show is at it’s best when it’s just them solving crimes…hence why the simple eps in the beginning work best.
And I think because it was so good it made way for crazy fans, with some being so hardcore that they become possessive of it…they think the show should only do what they want it to (i.e. JohnLock) & they stick their nose up at anything else.
As much as it pains me to say, I think a break will actually help in the long run…give time for those hardcore fans to settle expectations or move on to something else…& we can get Sherlock/John in a new phase of life (middle-age) just solving crimes together.
