Dannii to host Dance Boss for Seven

Dannii gets dance crew fever for Seven's upcoming series.

Dannii Minogue will host Seven’s upcoming Dance Boss series.

Earlier this year Seven Programming boss Angus Ross told TV Tonight, “It’s about people in the workplace who might have a dance crew together. It’s a chance for them to face-off. It’s a big, shiny floor studio show and we have had some amazing auditions. They are incredible and they certainly put a smile on your face,” Ross explains.

The show is said to be inspired by viral videos. On offer is a “large cash prize.”

Minogue, who was a judge across 3 seasons of The X Factor for Seven, will also co-host Ultimate Beastmaster for Netflix, alongside Bachelor Nick Cummins later this year.

Updated: Celebrated artist and performer Dannii Minogue to host and executive produce Seven’s Dance Boss.

In the spotlight since the age of seven, dance has been a constant force in Dannii Minogue’s life. From the nostalgic early days as a team member on Young Talent Time, to her chart-topping days as one of Australia’s biggest female music exports, strutting her stuff is in her DNA

Now as host of Channel Seven’s Dance Boss – a brand-new dance competition guaranteed to put a smile on your face, where teams of workers from the same workplace or profession dance-off to win a cash prize of $100,000 – Dannii’s about to help others realise their performance dreams.
“Dancing is about expression, freedom and having fun. And when you add in a little competition, some costumes, a shiny stage and a whole lot of sass, it’s on!” says Dannii who will also serve as one of the program’s executive producers.

“These crews are going to dance like nobody is watching – with all of Australia watching!” It’s no secret that I love to dance, I can’t wait to see what Australia will bring to the dancefloor.”

Dannii will be joined on the program by two yet-to-be announced celebrity judges and a resident DJ.

Angus Ross, Channel Seven’s Director of Programming says: “We’re delighted to have Dannii leading this project. Her global success and skill as a performer, matched with her warmth and empathy as a mentor, makes her a natural fit for this role.”

In each episode, the fabulously costumed teams face-off in spectacularly staged dance battles. They are judged and scored on entertainment factor. Eventually 12 crews will be whittled down to one winning crew who will be crowned “Dance Boss Australia”!

Dance Boss is expected in Q3 on Seven.

  1. I think the television industry has almost reached the bottom of the barrel as far as “reality” shows are concerned. Hopefully someone will come up with something soon that will make us want to watch FTA again. Hope springs eternal. Meanwhile, back to the Foxtel movies.

  2. Agree this will fail as the (incessant) ads are annoyingly cringeworthy. You can tell when Seven is desperate for us to like a show because they will flood the promos & they seem to think that means we will automatically turn in because it is on Seven. They need to lay off the MKR/House Rules drama & get original shows that engage audiences.

  3. I think the last dance show was So You Think You Can Dance (with Kelly Rowland and Jason Derulo) and it was a huge flop. I don’t think Seven’s strategy in the last couple of years have worked (eg Yummy Mummy, Spartan, some random dating/couple shows, etc). And yet they cancelled Dancing With The Stars and X-Factor (ratings were down but they were not as catastrophic but I understand costs may be the factor here). Someone needs to do some more research, analysis before commissioning a new show.
