Foxtel’s Moonee Ponds building for sale

Customer service building in Moonee Ponds is expected to fetch around $45m.

A four storey Foxtel customer service centre in Moonee Ponds is up for sale, expected to fetch around $45m, according to media reports.

Foxtel recently renewed its lease for another four-year term in the building at 1-21 Dean Street, which was purpose-built in 2004.

Agents Collier International state the building has five levels of office space, substantial parking facilities and features virtually uninterrupted natural light.

Last month Foxtel confirmed it was scaling back the number of staff in customer service as more subscribers used online methods, but has not revealed how many staff are affected.

  1. As far as I can tell retail sellers of Foxtel like Optus will no longer offer any new installations and just keep a service going for existing customers. If Foxtel plans to continue it will need a new business model which I believe will convert more of it’s business to internet streaming than the more expensive set top boxes. Without the lock in 24 month contract which plainly benefited Foxtel in the past Foxtel will plainly need to match their competitors ( which with Australia’s small consumer base is financially risky) or in a worst case scenario downgrade its packages to reduce costs with Fox Sports becoming its primary money earner, unless Mr Murdoch has other plans the clock is ticking for Foxtel.
