“I’m at a new network, maybe that’s the way they do it?”

Lisa Wilkinson was a great sport after that story yesterday.

Lisa Wilkinson was a great sport yesterday after TV Tonight‘s annual April Fool’s post suggesting she was set to host Big Brother.

On The Project last night she told Hamish Macdonald that she read the story yesterday morning before grabbing a flight.

“I spent an hour and a half thinking, ‘Oh well I’m at a new network, maybe that’s the way they do it?'” she joked.

The story also prompted Daily Mail Australia to seek comment from TEN, where it attracted 2.8k shares. Oops!

It also was noted in best pranks on Mumbrella, The New Daily and Starts at 60.

Former BB talent and producers were said to be highly amused by the idea, but there were plenty of readers wanting it to become a reality.

At over 100 comments it TVT’s most-commented story so far this year.

Thanks to TEN for being good sports on this one, too!

Corrected.

  1. I was hoping it would return (in its original format and not how it ended up). Far more enjoyable than so much of the present day ‘reality’ rubbish fare.

  2. The fact that there was so much interest and that Big Brother still remains in the TV Tonight word cloud after so long shows that there is a market for a return to Big Brother on Australian television. Big Brother is still a ratings success overseas. There should be serious consideration for bringing back Big Brother.

  3. Can’t tell if the Daily Mail’s just republishing a far-fetched April fool’s day story for clicks, or whether they’re actually that dim-witted…

  4. When I woke yesterday morning I came on to see what your joke was this year and it is a ripper. I also think you may have given Big Brother legs again after all this. Now I don’t know whether to praise you or insult you.
Happy Easter David, you are the master of April Fools jokes.
