Jessica Mauboy a bookie favourite in Eurovision semi-final

Australia and Sweden are favourites for the Second Semi-Final of the Eurovision Song Contest next month.

The running order for the 2 finals has now been announced by organisers. Australia’s Jessica Mauboy is placed 9th in the second Semi-Final, which probably means she closes the first half before interval. It’s worth noting former Eurovision winner violinist Alexander Rybak is back for Norway in the same Semi Final.

Her song We Got Love must graduate as one of 10 songs to appear in the Final. According to Unibet that is a sure thing. It tips her at equal #5 for the overall winner, which would repeat our unblemished top ten rankings so far.

Israel, Estonia, Czech Republic, and Belgium are tipped ahead of us at this early stage. That means we avoid all the current faves in our second semi pool, bonus.

To generate support Mauboy is performing at the London Eurovision Party on this week, then Israel Calling in Tel Aviv on Tuesday April 10 and Eurovision in Concert in Amsterdam on Saturday April 14.

  1. Europe’s seeming appreciation for Australia’s interest in their competition means she could sing 3 Blind Mice and probably still make the Top 10. We Got Love is a strong song (the best Australia has done since Sound of Silence), so I think she will make Top 5 in the grand final.

I thought Israel no longer competed because their national broadcaster shut down?

    • Netta Barzilai who is competing for Israel won HaKokhav HaBa and as the result won the chance to compete….. Her song Toy should be amazing to see live …..
