MasterChef Australia fit for a prince

Season 10 contestants will today cook for a royal reception attended by HRH Prince Charles.

Contestants in the upcoming MasterChef series will today cook for 150 guests at the Royal Flying Doctor Service base in Darwin, to be attended by HRH Prince Charles.

The royal reception is being hosted by Northern Territory Chief Minister, Michael Gunner. It isn’t clear how prominently the prince will appear in the episode.

Gary Mehigan said: “The Prince of Wales has always been an advocate for the environment and sustainability. He is well-known as a supporter of local producers and locally sourced produce.

“With this in mind, the challenge for our contestants is to respect and reflect his philosophy and use native and indigenous flavours along with other locally sourced ingredients.

“It is not only an enormous privilege and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to cook for His Royal Highness’s reception, but a challenge too,” he said.

MasterChef‘s 10th season is tipped to begin in May, with Gordon Ramsay and Nigella Lawson amongst season highlights.

  1. Really looking forward to MasterChef. It’s a shame 10 didn’t have the Games, they could have cooked for some of the athletes or the Officials.
