Renewed: Mom

Triple-treat for Chuck Lorre as third of his current sitcoms gets a 2018 renewal.

US sitcom Mom has been renewed for a sixth season.

The multicam comedy, featuring Anna Faris and Allison Janney is currently averaging over 11 million viewers for CBS.

The renewal makes it a clean sweep for Chuck Lorre, with all three of his CBS shows already renewed for next season. The Big Bang Theory will be headed into its 12th season, and hit spin-off Young Sheldon is renewed for Season 2.

Mom has been a lynchpin comedy for us over the last several years,” said Kelly Kahl, President, CBS Entertainment. “It’s a fearless series that tackles provocative social issues with laughter and grace, and a large, loyal audience has followed. With gifted talents like Anna and Allison leading a great ensemble cast, and a production team headed by Chuck Lorre, Eddie Gorodetsky, Nick Bakay and Gemma Baker, this series just keeps getting better.”

The series screens in Australia on 9GO! When it was originally promoted by Nine it was bizarrely retitled as “Mum” but it was amended before launch. Duh!

  1. Nine killed it in Australia by moving it all around the times lots then moving it to go. Personally many titles can go straight on to the multi-channels now since it’s all about network share not individual channels.

  2. I love Mom but it’s never on and when it is its just repeats. I don’t think they have shown five seasons? Last major thing I remember is Christys father dying, then some episodes after that then it disappeared. Not sure where we are up to. Does anyone know?

      1. Thanks for going the extra mile and getting the information from Nine David.

Bugger! So I was incompetent enough to miss season 3 when it was on.

  3. Mom is no Cybill or BBT, both of which are on my rewatch list, but I like it and am glad it is being renewed.

I am a bit behind. I was thinking, “I swear I have only watched 2 seasons, how can it be being renewed for the sixth season?”

And the answer is — I watched the first 2 seasons on DVD and was waiting for channel nine to show brand new episodes but they switched to 9GO.

  4. I never know quite what season they are at, due to infrequent appearances on 9/Go!. Mom is currently showing late night on 9, I didn’t know if they were new or repeats. The same happened with the Mike and Molly another Chuck Lorre show. I missed chuncks of it, so now watching it on eleven every day to see the episodes I missed. I don’t know if nine/ Go! ever showed the final season of Mike and Molly.
