The Simpsons vows to find right answer for Apu

The Simpsons producers have responded to some of the criticism surrounding the show’s take on The Problem With Apu and the stereotyping of Apu.
“Something that started decades ago and was applauded and inoffensive is now politically incorrect. What can you do?” Lisa Simpson said in the episode. But on social media fans, many were left unimpressed.
Writing on Twitter on Friday, producer Al Jean promised there would be a “popular” and “right” resolution to the Apu stereotyping row.

He also continued to defend the episode, saying it “could be unpopular but still be right” and compared the whole debate to a “free speech issue”.
“We tried bringing in Utkarsh Ambudkar as Apu’s nephew. It was deemed unsatisfactory – there’s no solution I fear that will satisfy,” Jean wrote in reply to one fan. “We’ve been trying to make Apu nuanced, sympathetic and (more than our other characters) admirable for 30 years.”

Really all they would have to do is reshow the Season 7 Episode 23 one titled: Much Apu About Nothing, which is about Anti-Immigration and a Proposition being passed to deport all illegal immigrants. It explores Apu’s origins and he sits a Citizenship Test along with Dr. Nick Riviera, Akira, Bumblebee Man, Luigi, Groundskeeper Willie and Moe Szyslak. Then at a congratulatory party, Homer tells his guests how terrible it would be if immigrants were deported, explaining they make the United States thrive.
Every Simpson fan should know not to take this show seriously! These so-called fans need to lighten up.
Its not the true fan who are complaining though
I don’t think we can presume who is / isn’t a “true” fan. Better to put your own view across.
My argument about everything….the new world order is trying to put their values on things that happened decades ago….right or wrong…they are past….Just go back to taking pictures of your food….that did not happen decades ago either.
This is so pathetic! Have these complainers actually watched the Simpsons before in the early yrs?
And yet no one will stand up for the Austro German bodybuilder/action star immigrant demographic-poor Ranier Wolfcastle!
Leave Apu alone. Every Simpsons character is a stereotypical caricature and it’s the basis of the humour. The problem lies in showing 29yr old episodes that satirise situations that may no longer exist. Political correctness is about sanitising the past and pretending it didn’t happen. Insert suitable cliche here.
The oldest grocery items are still at the front of the shelf, thankyou Apu.
