British TV presenter Ant McPartlin, has been fined £86,000 ($A158,000) and disqualified from driving for 20 months after pleading guilty to drink-driving.
The 42-year-old was involved in a collision with two other cars while driving his Mini in London last mongth. A child who was a passenger in one of the cars was taken to hospital to be checked as a precaution. Others were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
McPartlin – one half of entertainment duo Ant and Dec – was charged by post three days later, before stepping back from his TV commitments and returning to rehab.
McPartlin’s co-presenter, Declan Donnelly, hosted the final two episodes of Saturday Night Takeaway on his own. Donnelly will now present Britain’s Got Talent live shows solo.
McPartlin, one of Britain’s highest paid TV presenters, will step back from his TV commitments during his recovery.

Guessing the fine is proportional to his income or status?
Otherwise thats a massive fine. “Joe Blow” wouldn’t be able to afford that.

Not unintentional. McPartlin case is not in Australian jurisdiction. Case is resolved. Guilty plea lodged. It’s very different.
Fair call. Didn’t think of that. Should have been obvious.
Addiction is hard and powerfull . Just goes to show even big money and contracts means nothing against it’s evilness.
