TEN debuts new US procedural Instinct starring Alan Cumming (The Good Wife) in two week’s time.

Cumming stars as former CIA operative Doctor Dylan Reinhart who is lured back to his old life to help stop a serial killer. His role is being cited as the first gay lead character in an hour-long broadcast drama.

It launched in the US in March to strong ratings.

A gifted author currently working as a university professor, Reinhart is drawn out of retirement when tenacious New York Police Department homicide detective Lizzie Needham (Bojana Novakovic) appeals to him to help catch a murderer using his first book as a tutorial.

Instinct boasts a stellar line-up of guest stars, including Academy Award winner Whoopi Goldberg (Ghost, The Color Purple) as Dylan’s agent, Sarita Choudhury (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Homeland) as the Mayor of New York City and John Doman (The Wire, Oz) as Dylan’s father, who is also a CIA officer.

Written by Michael Rauch and adapted from James Patterson and Howard Roughan’s 2017 book Murder Games, Instinct also stars Naveen Andrews (Lost, The English Patient) as Julian Cousins and Sharon Leal (Dreamgirls, Supergirl) as Lt. Jasmine Gooden.

Wednesday, 16 May at 8.30pm on TEN.

    1. This Is Us is on at 9:30pm and has 6 eps to go (they only make 18 eps pa and it finished up before Easter in the US). They forgot to buy batteries for the smoke detector last week show we should be up to the end of the Jack story soon (they will of course still use the middle and beginning). Was hoping I was going to get to check out Instinct, because of Cumming. If the there’s one thing TGF has missed its scenes between Marissa and her father.

      1. CBS in the US is pulling it from their line up for a couple of weeks-is not rating well and will probably not get a 2nd season-will probably end up as filler on a secondary 10 channel at some time (if at all).

    2. Instinct has been pulled from programming in the states.Replaced with another show. Is CBS the American version of the 10 Network ? Doesnt sound good at all…..
