Just when you thought it was all over, a premiere special Secrets of Eurovision airs on SBS VICELAND.
Each May, 40 European and not-so-European countries, from Ireland to Azerbaijan, send pop groups or singers to represent them in a contest between nations, filmed simultaneously by multiple television channels.
With its classic pop numbers, catchy refrains, razzamatazz, and over-the-top lighting, the annual ritual of the Eurovision Song Contest has held audiences spellbound for decades.
Each country sees it differently. The Scandinavians and East Europeans love it. The French and British are more ambivalent. But year after year, it goes on attracting the biggest television audiences in the world. Almost 200 million viewers switch on to cheer their favourites. This documentary explores the enduring fascination of the Eurovision.
Saturday, 19 May at 8.30pm on SBS VICELAND.

This aired last weekend if I’m not mistaken? So not a premiere screening …
Are you referring to Eurovision Top 40 Controversies?
robbie1979 is correct, this documentary aired at 5:30 pm last Sunday on SBS before the prime time replay of Eurovision.
Thanks. VICELAND indicated it was a premiere.
Given how many people had been watching Eurovision last weekend why on earth did SBS not use those ad breaks to say anything about this show . I only found out about it after it went to air.
