Alex & Emily win My Kitchen Rules 2018

Queensland couple win the $250,000 prize, capping off a volatile season for Seven.

Queensland couple Alex & Emily been named champions of My Kitchen Rules 2018.

Serving up a 5 course meal including Moroccan Lobster, Pork Belly and a dessert called Penicillin, they scored 55 out of 60 points.

Melbourne mums Kim & Suong, specialising in Vietnamese dishes, scored 52 points. The evening was not without its seasonal drama as the pair bickered about dishes.

“This has been a journey of a lifetime, the best team won today, we’re very proud of them and very happy for them,” said Suong.

“It’s a well deserved win,” agreed Kim.

Alex & Emily, who scored a perfect 10 from Liz Egan, claimed a $250,000 cash prize.

“This is so surreal, I can’t believe it!” said Emily.

“Winning MKR is our ticket to getting what we wanted, to making our dream a reality,” said Alex.

“Everything in our lives that we’ve worked towards… we’re finally going to own our own place,” Emily added.

This season has been marked by extreme in-fighting and headlines, leading to a first-ever eviction of one team. Manu Fieldel has also told press the show needs to return to its cooking heart.

But the attention has helped spike ratings. After lowest-ever figures against Nine’s Married at First Sight, the series has enjoyed a resurgence that sent it back to the top.

On the back of that success, Seven is already open for applications for 2019.

  1. I don’t think the judges’ decisions went in line with their comments made during eating food. Their decisions clearly indicate that discriminations unfortunately exist in this country. It’s too risky to rely on these judges.

  2. i had not watched alot of the series, pretty much just the finals. Anyway found it even more underwhelming than previous years, all the drama & buildup for what? a rather boring climax!
I feel something could be added to make it more spectacular like their families coming onto the set, or a quick interview with the winners at the end so they can say what they’re going to do with their prize money…..not just ‘the winner is…’ then sparkles hitting the set, the winners hug, roll credits. I suppose since they pre tape both teams winning it can never look very genuine or exciting though.

  3. I really hope 9 can kill MKR off for good next year !!
MAFS dominated until season end – MKR only lifted due to Comm Games fiasco.
Maybe Ninja Warrior after MAFS next year might end the 4-5 week extension of MKR for good.
    We can only hope.

  4. Cue the “judges favourites” comments. Don’t envy the judges’ scoring, but they were there, they judged – in line with their professional opinions. Congratulations to the winners, and the runner ups.

  5. Was it just me or did it sound like the contestants were reciting pre scripted lines at times ?
The ” drama ” and the crying scenes just looked artificial and forced …
Everyone just looked a little flat , like they were speaking by rote or something…

    1. @tdd – They usually film two endings. One with each team winning. So no one really knows the final result. That’s why everything is a little bit off – It’s not genuine emotion – because it can’t be

  6. I stopped watching once Olga and Valeria, and Henry and Anna were eliminated. With them went any actual cooking prowess. The GF teams were not worthy, and I’m interested to see if ratings were affected last night, when compared to previous years.
    Quite a disappointing season.
