CBS keen for more of Big Bang Theory

"We will take the show for as long as they want to go,” says CBS exec.

CBS has indicated it is keen for more of The Big Bang Theory.

The upcoming 12th season is the end of the current contracts but CBS entertainment president Kelly Kahl told media the 11th season is “zero down” from Season 10, and may even finish up year-on-year in total viewing.

With performance like that, “we are hopeful that there will be more” seasons of Big Bang beyond the upcoming 12th,” Kahl said.

“As long as Chuck (Lorre) and his team have stories to tell, we will take the show for as long as they want to go,” Kahl said. “We can take a few more seasons.”

Cue the mega-salary negotiations once again.

  1. I love BBT but once Amy & Sheldon become parents (as so deliberately teased in the last Young Sheldon which is as funny as BBT at its height) there’s nowhere else for it to go and I’d be happy for it to bow out on top.

  2. Given how keen the networks are to restart 20 year old sitcoms that used to rate, it would seem silly to cancel one that is still rating well, if you can afford it.

  3. While it hasn’t gone down hill as badly as The Simpsons, much of the story now is just filler to delay the pending nuptials of Sheldon and Amy. It should end on season 12 with Amy revealing she’s pregnant in the final scene of the final episode.

  4. I love this show, it’s my favourite despite the quality degradation. While I would be a bit upset if it ended I don’t want it to keep going if they aren’t passionate about it anymore. I hope they end it on their terms and not pushed to keeping it going on CBS’ terms.
